Severus Snape loves Sarah, but Sarah doesn't want to be seen with him. This story follows Severus Snape and a OC through thier Years at Hogwarts and a few years after. I've fineshed it but I have to type it all, plus I have a sequel to type.

1. Year 1

What Love Does Darkness Know?

Chapter One

First Year

"Checkmate!"

"You always win."

"You always ask me to meet you and play."

"Arrogant Gryffindor."

"Stubborn Slythirin."

Severus laughed. Only Sarah could make him laugh. She would smile mildly and watch him laugh before joining in. He loved the sound of her laughter.

"Well, goodnight, Severus." She stood up to leave.

"Uh, Sarah?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you."

She nodded and left.

Severus knew she knew what he meant. They could pretend all they wanted that their little meetings were just about chess, but really it was how Severus built his confidence back up after James and Sirius teased him to the brink. Severus told Sarah that chess was his sanctuary. This was of course a lie. Sarah was his sanctuary.
