A/N: Snowbeardolphin, when I published Oh, Christmas Tree, Ninja's adventures with the tree, asked for a version with Bullet. I demurred, because I wasn't sure I could do it justice, and I didn't want to write essentially the same thing. But the plot bunny wouldn't go away, so here it is. Hope you enjoy it!

"A little more to the left. Now forward—no, back just a bit. A little to the right. There, perfect!" Danny Williams admired the 6" Douglas fir as his partner, Steve McGarrett, screwed it into the stand. "What do you think, Bullet?" Danny asked his German shepherd, sitting beside him.

Bullet approached the tree and sniffed at it. Then, he lifted his leg.

Danny was horrified. "Bullet, bad dog!" Bullet just wagged his tail.

Steve laughed. "Well, now you won't have to worry about watering it."

Danny glared at him. "Speaking of which. . ." He went to the kitchen and returned with the bottle of solution they'd mixed up. He poured it carefully into the stand, Bullet watching intently. As soon as Danny finished, Bullet stuck his nose in the stand and lapped up the liquid.

"Bullet! Oh, my god, there's bleach in that! I hope he's okay!"

Steve's laughter got worse. "Relax, Danny, it's mostly Sprite. He'll be fine."

"But how am I going to keep him from drinking it?!"

Steve thought a minute. "Got any chicken wire?"

"Chicken wire?! No, I don't have any chicken wire. Why would I have chicken wire?"

"That's okay, I think I have some at home. I'll go get it and wrap it over the stand. Then you can still water the tree, but Bullet can't drink out of it."

Danny stared at him incredulously. "Why do you have chicken wire? Never mind, I don't want to know."

While Steve was gone, Danny draped the lights on the tree and started hanging the ornaments. He was almost done when Steve returned, carrying the chicken wire and a brightly colored gift bag. "Brought the wire, and brought you a present to put under the tree."

"How generous of you," Danny said drily. He set the bag under the tree as Steve put the wire in place. They both stood back to admire their handiwork.

"You just need a few more presents and you're all set," Steve said.

Bullet started nosing at the gift bag, then ripped into it to get at the contents.

"Uh, Steve?"

"Yeah, Danny?"

"There isn't any food in there, is there?"

Steve paled. "Oops."

"Steve, what is my dog about to eat?" Danny asked as Bullet ripped open the package inside the bag.

"Chocolate-covered coffee beans," Steve said in a small voice.

"Chocolate-covered coffee beans?! Do you know how bad that is for a dog?! Help me get them away from him!"

Steve wrapped his arms around Bullet's muzzle and pried his jaws open, fishing out a few beans before the dog could swallow them and nearly getting his fingers crushed in the process. Danny scrambled around to pick up the rest of the beans before Bullet could get them.

Steve picked up the remains of the package and handed it to Danny. "Merry Christmas, Danno."

Danny gaped at him a minute, then started laughing. "Yeah, babe, Merry Christmas."
