A lone figure walked down the deserted street. The rain drizzled down, a peak of lightening flashing through the dark sky. A car passed, drenching the small shadow in dirty, freezing water. Head bowed, the figure limped down the street, a few tears running down its face, mixing with already soaked rags that clothed it.
A few blocks down, the small shadow lifted its weary feet, only to stumble on a large rock, and fall with a sob to its knees. It swayed momentarily, then plunged down and lay still and cold on the smooth pavement.
The figure closed its ice-blue eyes, and a few tears squeezed from the corners, leaving trails down the already dirt-streaked face. Blood oozed from its knees and face, falling and joining the filthy water around its quaking body.
A racking pain shot through its small body, and it coughed, bringing up a tidal wave of crimson blood. Again and again it heaved, sheet upon sheet of thick blood washing around its long brown hair, matting the already filthy and tangled tresses. It reached up a small hand, trying to stem the flow of life giving liquid, but even as it reached, hand a-quiver, it faltered, and the hand fell numbly to its side. It gave a small sigh, and another two pearly tears traced down its face, and a few quiet thoughts went through its head. 'I am going to die here, cold, alone, and afraid.' It gave a violent shiver, then went s
