On with the story
Ronald Weasley rolled off of his beautiful wife and lay back with his hands behind his head.
"I've been waiting to do that for two months," he said satisfied. In the room next door their two-month-old daughter Rose started crying.
"Nmm," Hermione groaned nuzzling into his side. "Last time we got to cuddle a little afterwards." She got out of bed put on her dressing gown and went to see to their daughter.
Ron was proud to say he was happy. He had a good job working with his best mate and brother-in-law, he was married to his best friend, and they had a beautiful baby girl. It amazed him sometimes how fast things could change. He was so used to the change being a bad thing; how fast Mad-Eye had left them and Tonks, Professor Lupin and Fred. Ron smiled a little at the memory of his lost brother. It still hurt sometimes, but Fred would never want his family to wallow in sorrow over his death.
But in the few short years after Voldemort's defeat, "Voldemort, Voldemort, Tom Riddle," he had worked at WWW with George to help him get restarted. That was a real moneymaker, he didn't think he or Hermione, "Or my children," he whispered, would ever have to worry about money. He had married Hermione not long after that; Harry and Ginny had been married as well. They already had a little ankle biter. And since then he had trained for the Auror's, been accepted and even got to be on his very own chocolate frog card; his proudest moment after the birth of his daughter and marriage to Hermione. Speaking of which, he heard Rose stop crying. He got up put on his boxers and headed to his daughter's room. Sitting in the rocking chair next to the crib was Hermione holding Rose as she suckled on Hermione's breast.
It was a beautiful picture to Ron. This is why they did what they did, for the future. Their children would hopefully never have to go through what they did.
"Hey love," he said.
Hermione looked up at him and smiled. "You know I think I'm getting the hang of this mother thing," she said staring at Rose.
Ron was about to agree when a startlingly hilarious realization hit him. It was all he could do not to burst out laughing for fear he would scare Rose.
"Oh ho hoo hoo hee hee! Oh that's something." he wheezed, bent over double leaning on the doorframe for support.
Hermione turned red and stood up to walk out of the room. "Well, if you think me being a scared mother not knowing whether or not I can care for my own baby is funny maybe you should start sleeping on the couch!" she said nearly in tears. Ron stopped her and gently wrapped his arms around his wife and daughter.
"Sweetheart I wasn't laughing a that," he said through his laughter. "I was laughing at the absurdly amusing realization I just had
"Oh yeah and what was that?" Hermione said scathingly.
Ron stood back, held out his arms wide and said with a big goofy proudly announced. "I'm a motherfucker!"
Hermione could hardly contain her own laughter.
"Ronald you're such a child."
"But you love me anyway."
"Of course I do."
All is well, Ron thought.
