Normal
Sometimes, Molly Hooper wishes she were anything but normal.
Times like today, when Sherlock Holmes once again bursts through the morgue doors, spilling out deductions like bullets out of a machine gun, John and the Yard just barely keeping up with his train of thought.
Times like today, when the body on her slab is once again being interrogated (in a way) by Sherlock Holmes, and of course he ends up seeing a few tiny things that she's missed, and of course those things end up being the evidence needed to solve the case.
Times like today, when John looks at her apologetically for Sherlock's rudeness and Greg pats her on the shoulder as if telling her that she did a good job anyway.
Times like today, when she just wants to, for once, not look completely useless and dispensable and for once look more like the highly trained pathologist that she is and less like the assistant/lackey/note-taker/coffee-maker that Sherlock Holmes is making her to be.
Times like today, when she's just the tiniest bit unhappy with herself and she wonders what it'd be like if her breasts were just a bit bigger, herself just a bit taller, her voice just a bit more confident, her eyes just a bit more observant, her brain just a bit sharper.
Times like today, when all she can think of is why she feels like a guest in her own morgue.
But later, when Sherlock Holmes comes back after the case, when he's just idly looking through some slides under the microscope and lazily mixing chemicals from one tube to the other, she gets hit by this sudden sense of… contentment. She always does during times like this, when she can feel his eyes on her even as he looks down into his microscope.
Little does she know that Sherlock Holmes is merely keeping an eye on her to make sure she never changes, because what would he do with himself if she does?
