Chapter One: That One Person
I've followed him most of my life. He was my happy place His smile makes me weak. I know I love him but he hasn't noticed me yet. I've been in all classes, when he was sick, I was worried, and when as he grew into a man, I fell deeper into his spell. And to tell you the truth I will never escape it.
I finally talked to him. It was a Monday, bright and sunny. But in that hallway it was dark. He was with a girl, I'll tell you that. No use describing her, but I will let you know that she was gorgeous. I could see why he liked her.
"Kazuma, leave me alone! You're pathetic! You thought I really liked you! I only dated you to get to Shuichi! But, since you don't know him, we're through."
So she only wanted that fox huh? Kuwabara was so much better. "I thought that you and I…." He stopped talking when she slapped him. "Stop thinking you stupid oaf! Nothing happened between us!" I heard all this because I was standing around the corner, holding my books, thinking that I should intervene (they were in my usual lunch spot). When I finally got the courage to go out there, she was gone and he was on the floor holding his head. "I gave up a good life for what? To be tossed around like a piece of shit? Life sucks. I should just die."
"You shouldn't do that! People would miss you." I stepped forward my bangs covering my eyes. I couldn't stop blushing. "Really? Who? My friends? My family?"
"I would miss you." He looked at me onxy eyes questioning, "Would you?"
"Yes you have a nice smile and you're real sweet. My mom use to say that 'If one person wants you than that's enough to live for.'"
"Really?"
"Yeah" I sat next to him. "Maybe you'll find that person soon."
"I think I did." I turned to look him in the face. He pushed my bangs back and looked me in the eyes.
"Your eyes. I've seen them before." He leaned forward and stroked my cheek. I blushed and turned away. "You don't want me. You deserve so much better." Here's the moment I've been waiting for and I push him away. I could confess but he deserves so much more.
"Maybe, see you around?" He stood holding his hand out to me. I took it.
"Maybe."
