Severus Snape walked up to the ruins of the house in Godric's Hollow on October 31st, 1981. A piece of the roof and wall had been burnt and blasted right out. He dared to walk in.
The entryway was made up of smashed photo frames. Pictures of James, Harry and Lily lay behind the shattered glass. He shed a tear, but wiped it away quickly. She looked so happy, and he knew where she had ended up.
Severus looked into a room, seeing James' dead body lying there, the couch surrounding him burnt to dust. Even though he didn't like James, it still pained him to see the man that Lily loved dead, because he made her happy.
He kept walking until he reached the stairwell, and began to climb the steps, slowly and carefully. Severus reached the attic door, blown off its hinges. All of a sudden, he was staring at a shattered lamp, a small boy, and the dead body of the only girl he had ever loved.
His knees quickly gave out from under him, and he reached for the wall as he began to cry. She was just sitting there, lifeless, her bright green eyes opened wide, her hair spread out around her like a fan. He crawled over to her and picked her dead body up from the ground, hugging her and caressing her auburn hair while the tears streamed down his face.
