Starlight Express
A girl sits in her home
Sad, scared and alone
Her parents fighting louder
It's more then she can bare
Outside she goes fed up
She can listen no more
Every night the fighting grows
Every night her heart is sore
She walks into a field
Sits on a smooth high stone
Cold wind blowing steadily
Chilling her to the bone
She looks up to the stars
Wanting all to find but help
To ease her mind and pain
Of all the stress and battle scars
One star seems to listen
Growing brighter every second
Twinkling down to her
All of this she is missing
The winds come to a halt
A cry filling the air
A ghostly train whistle
Now she looks up scared
Down comes the train
In the blink of an eye
She hears it coming faster
It sounding like a sigh
Big and blue and glowing
It touches to the ground
Stars dotting it sides neatly
Glowing strongly yet so sweetly
It whistles to the girl
Beckoning her to come
To ride in the midnight sky
Until the rise of the sun
The girl boards the train
It takes off to the sky
Frightened the girl screams
Then slowly starts to cry
The train whistles gently
So to calm the frightened girl
Its journey is not for fear
But to make the girls' mind clear
It releases steam slowly
The girl looks up shyly
It sounds like it's trying to calm her
With a gentle little "shhhh"
The girl sits up finally
No fear clouding her eyes
She watches the stars pass
Quickly as they fly by
Soon do they return
To the place where it began
Track of time all lost
It trickling away like sand
The girl gets off the train
Turns to say goodbye
But standing where the train once stood is someone
Glowing as brightly as the sky
He steps to the girl
Takes hold of her hands
Looking deeply in her eyes
Like saying his own goodbyes
He slowly gives her a smile
Just as warm as the sun
He can tell just by looking
The girl really had fun
With a gentle kiss to her head
A touch to her chest
He backs away and disappears
Almost like wishing her the best
The girl looks down
She sees a star with ribbon for a chain
Glowing sweetly blue light
To guide her home through the night
Home she returns
Silence fills the walls
Both parents are asleep
No more screams or catcalls
The girl climbs into bed
Excitement running in her head
For she knows one thing the best
Tomorrow night's another night with the
STARLIGHT EXPRESS
