Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach or its characters.

I know it's not June, but it's Obon time in Japan, so I felt this was rather fitting.
This is for whoever has lost a loved one, whether recently or a long time ago.

If possible, please read this on a rainy day in June.

On those June days he is quiet, and she is sweet to him, going with him to the gravesite and letting him be alone awhile before slipping softly up beside him to stand with him; not touching, but letting him know she is there.

She understands, and he knows she does: the pain of losing someone loved so dearly, the loneliness that comes now and again because that person is gone, the ache of a heart that seeks its missing piece.

Some years he goes out to cleanse Hollows.

If it rains on that day, he goes to the door and stares out at it, and she comes up behind him, quietly; slipping her arm through his and laying her head on his shoulder. His eyes are sad, then resolute and determined, but the loneliness and loss—the missing her—hazes through his gaze and touches the furrowed brows, and he still looks sad. She says nothing, but squeezes his arm gently, and they stand together so, silently watching the rain fall.

A/N: Originally written February 2013, and inspired by the character song, "Memories in the Rain". I didn't understand all the lyrics at this point, so this story was inspired purely by the feeling of the song. I really love the song, and enjoyed writing this piece, so I hope you enjoy it too!
