Haha, it's been awhile. (only one week but whatever. :P) I did promise something femslashy the last time. Perhaps I'll do something tomorrow?
Suzumoto can see her faint reflection in the car window, lazily daydreaming. Her thighs stick to the leather seat, neck and collarbones slick with sweat and hair frizzy. She sniffles, wiping the back of her hand against her pleated skirt, cloth wrinkling. Suzumoto swallows, spit nonexistent in her mouth and tongue deserted. She looks over at all of the bags and boxes. None of them have water.
Her phone emits a jingle and she can see her mother smile, eyes darting to look back at her daughter. Suzumoto flips open her cell, seeing multiple voicemails from her friends. She presses her phone against her ear, peeling apart her legs and crossing them. Shinozaki's voice is slightly loud through the speakers. Suzumoto can hear ambient noise in the background. She turns the volume down a few notches.
"Hi, Mayu—-! I'm reaaaally gonna miss you during the rest of the school year and summer. The cultural festival was really fun today! Call or text me back, okay?" Her voice dully beeps out, and Suzumoto flickers to the next message, corners of her mouth slightly curved upwards.
They arrive at the new house, with Suzumoto's father unloading the furniture and belongings. Suzumoto goes in the backyard, leaning against the back door and presses her cell against her ear once more.
It's Kishinuma's voice, low and a bit raspy. He starts by clearing his throat. "Yo, ah, Suzumoto… we never really talked, but that's alright. Uh, I'm bummed out that you had to leave. Text me sometime. Later." She snorts and rolls her eyes, going to the next voicemail.
The voice giggles, and shuffling is heard. "Mayu! Heeey, how're ya? Naomi and I—" The phone is grabbed by someone else and Shinohara snickers.
"S-stop going on my phone, Seiko…!" Nakashima scolds. "Anyway, hi! Seiko was right about us two missing you. Please call or text either one of us soon! Bye-bye." She bids farewell in a melodious tone, hanging up. Suzumoto rubs her thumb against the screen, leaving a large streak.
"O-oh.. hello, Suzumoto. This is Mochida, from class 2-9. We don't talk often. I hope you get your packing done and have a nice summer. Okay." Mochida's voice politely clicks off and there's another voice fading into the speakers, something a bit more childish. A little girl's voice?
"Ooh. Is this the Mayu Suzumoto that big brother sometimes talks about…?" The girl wonders aloud, humming. She accentuates the syllables of Suzumoto's name, making the brunette questionably furrow her brows. The child continues on. "Oh well. Mayu, or whoever you are, I wish you luck in the future! Have a nice trip to your new home!" she exclaims, voice shutting off. The voicemail inbox screen flashes on, and Suzumoto picks the last isolating one.
Her heart is ready to beat out of her chest, hearing a party horn noise and organized clapping. She smiles at his dorky tries. "Suzume, I— I wasn't expecting you to leave so suddenly. However, you do have my number and you are available to text or call me anytime. You should, though. I'm going to miss you." She clenches her free hand into a fist, tension building up inside her.
"My heart goes out to you. I love you, Mayu." She can't help but squirm and immediately dial Morishige's number.
