Hanging On For Hope
Prologue
Darkness is fading in... And darkness is real
He laid a white lily on her grave as a tear fell down his cheek. Now that she's gone, he didn't stop it. He wasn't there this time to save her. He regretted for not going after her. Looking at her grave, he wished it was him laying there instead of her, but he knew it wasn't possible.
She died… That's what they said even though her body was never located.
She was the only thing that crossed his mind for the last few weeks. Looking at her grave, wishing it was him laying there instead of her. He blamed himself for not helping her. He promised he would be there, he promised he'd never let anyone to harm his family nor his friends, but he failed again. Once again he was a failure.
Something holds me down and makes me act the way I can't explainThe hardest part was letting go. This time he couldn't do that. He still hoped she was there somewhere. He could save her even though he knew it wasn't possible, although he still hoped for a chance.
If it wasn't for him, Chloe and Lucy needed an explanation then.
I felt something deep inside of me, that I can't let goHe got lost in his own world. There was no one who could understand, not even his own mother.
It's like someone was playing tricks on him. Fooling him into believing she was alive and believing it was true as others thought it wasn't.
Maybe it's her heartbeat that could be heard everyday, but he tried to ignore it. Her heartbeat is a kind of hope, or probably an illusion. Day after day, he could hear it audibly as if it was his own but he shoves it away.
The raindrops began to descent from the sky; his thoughts drifted back to the day he last saw her. The last smile she gave him before she was gone. A reminiscence of her smile makes it harder to let go.
I've tried to separate dreams from reality to satisfy this feeling I'm longing
Suddenly, his heartbeat begins to beat faster as if someone was calling unto him, whispering his name. "Clark" is all he can hear before his heartbeat stopped.
