Those Beautiful Clouds
Disclaimer: I don't own anything related to Harry Potter, JKR does!
The fic is but a small one-shot that came into my mind when I thought about how two rival Quidditch fanatics would behave with each other privately.
He lay on the wet mud looking up at the different clouds, imagining each to be a broomstick with different people riding it. He made out a quaffle, a snitch and even a bludger - that was the extent of his love towards the game. Oliver Wood would always see something related to the game he so dearly loved whenever he looked at the clouds.
Next to him lay an older boy - almost a man - who imagined the exact same things he imagined when looking at the clouds. In public they were the worst of enemies - a Dumbledore to a Voldemort, a Harry Potter to a Draco Malfoy, a Phoenix to a Dementor, a Gryffindor to a Slytherin...
"So...Puddlemere then?" Oliver asked without taking his eyes of those beautiful clouds.
"They offered, but my parents...Death Eaters..." Marcus trailed off without taking his eyes of those beautiful clouds.
"Take it, its your life not theirs!" Wood replied getting up, looking into his older friend's eyes for the first time that day.
Each saw understanding in the others eyes.
"They'll force me...Cruciatus..." Marcus said averting his eyes and looking back at the sky with a sad expression.
"Then why did you fail last year?" Oliver asked.
"For one more year of Quidditch...two days of cruciatus curses but it was worth it," he said sadly.
Wood stood up and glared at him, "It was worth it, yes, but you are Marcus Flint one of the best chasers in Hogwarts - You will join Puddlemere and not some dumb Dark Lord!"
Marcus looked into Oliver's eyes as he stood up, they radiated immense anger but he wasn't fazed, "Tell you what, once the war that is coming is over - I'll join Puddlemere."
Oliver looked ready to argue but Flint put up his hand to silence him, "That is the best I can offer, you better hope that Dumbledore and Potter can beat the Dark Lord," and then lay down again.
Oliver joined him and once more they lay in silence without taking their eyes of those beautiful clouds.
