Chocolate
James thought it was funny how good Sirius was with kids. Considering how much trouble Sirius had been as a kid, though, and how much he loved it . . . it wasn't a shock, just funny.
Remus and Lily had brought over Tabitha, who was now four and quoting 'The Cat in the Hat', a book Sirius had never read and kept saying all the wrong things about. But now Sirius had set up 'finger painting' on the kitchen table. Not papers and paints, ON the bloody table. With ketchup and mustard and mayonnaise. Lily was practically in tears and Remus was laughing his bloody arse off, but ON the kitchen table?
James groaned and hid a smile.
Sirius cleaned the table after each masterpiece and when he and his young protege ran out of condiments, they proceeded to draw again with chocolate sauce. THAT perked James up.
"But Mommy, I don't want to go." Tabitha said, reaching her arms out for Sirius. "Uncle Siri, don't let her take me."
Sirius kissed his niece. "It's okay, Tabby, we'll see you tomorrow." The girl was still crying when her parents lead her out of the house, Remus winking at his two best friends.
Sirius turned around to find James inches from his face. "Problem?" Sirius flashed his pearly whites.
"You're covered in chocolate, Siri." James said in a sort of off-hand way.
Sirius gave a wry smile. "Oh, really? I hadn't noticed. Let me go get a washcloth."
James grinned and pulled Sirius in tightly for kiss. Pulling back, he made a face. "Ugghhh . . . and you taste like ketchup."
Sirius swatted his lover's backside and ran upstairs where the pair of them fell down on the white comforter and proceeded to paint it all sorts of other colors.
They fell asleep afterwards and didn't even hear Lily come in the next day to drop off a package delivered to the wrong Marauder.
"Oh, god, boys! Not the white comforter!"
