If poem
If you can use your mind when all around you
cannot use theirs,
if you can imagine when others stop,
But still live in reality;
if you can believe in yourself when others loose hope
And yet still not acting too modest:
If you can show your thoughts; without hurting others,
if you can take humiliation- and not get upset
if you can meet failure and triumph,
And greet both like old friends,
if you can love your work,
And yet still use old pencils:
If you can loose,
and hold your head high,
and don't get upset,
and continue on,
if you can tell truth, from lie,
And not let the lies consume you,
If you can listen, even when
Your ears are sealed,
if you can see,
and your eyes are glued shut,
if you have persistence and don't stop,
And- which is more- you'll be a writer my friend!
