Aboard an as of yet unnamed pirate ship.

"Hey kid, are you done yet!" A man hollered. He and the rest of the crew sat around the dinner table waiting for something edible. A week ago they'd found a kid floating on some drifting pieces of wood, in the middle of the ocean no less. The captain thought he'd be nice and rescue the poor kid, and in exchange the kid could work on the boat. Who knew, in the future he might even become a real pirate himself.

It turned out that the kid, who looked far too thin to be healthy, was surprisingly good at cooking. That is why, a week later said kid franticly cut up the last fruit from the bowl he had collected and added it to the salad.

The kid was a boy, he also went by that name; Boy. The captain thought this was ridiculous and had promised to make a new one up for the kid, but had as of yet been unable to come up with on that fitted the little thing. He looked like a little girl, green eyes, black hair and very petit… But the captain was certain of that he could turn the boy into a pirate and so any girly sounding name was out. It just wouldn't fit a mighty pirate.

"I'm done!" A voice came from the kitchen, followed by the one who shouted carrying a very large bowl of fruit-salad. "It doesn't taste great, but at least you'll get your vitamins" he told the grumpy pirates. They had waited patiently for a good ten minutes after all.

They all loaded up their plates and began to eat. One after another they swore, spitted the pieces of fruit out, and glared at the kid in various order. The captain was about to berate the boy, how could someone fail this badly at cutting up fruit anyway?, when a sudden chill crept down his spine. Instead of shouting at the scared looking child in the doorway, he asked with forced calm;

"Where did you find the fruit boy?"

The boy looked almost too scared to answer, but managed to spit out something ineligible.

"Could you repeat that?"

And, as if a damn had burst the words flooded from the boy's mouth. "I went to the storeroom, where you have all the gold and such, I thought I'd seen some fruit in there the other day, but as I started to cut them up I tasted one, and it was really bad, but I thought it might be alright if I put some honey on it, but it didn't help and I'm so sorry! I am."

The captain was shocked, not only had the kid spoken an extreme amount for only one breath, but he had also apparently served him and the crew their entire haul of devil fruits.

And so, another week came and went. The boy, still without a real name found himself abandoned by the pirates in the closest port they could find. Truthfully he still didn't know what a devil fruit was, and sure it wasn't that tasty, but still. They were overreacting. He walked towards the closest ship in sight, adamant that this ship would be the one he'd stay with.

In another dimension a family of three waited for the pizza delivery. Until very recently there had been four occupants of the house, but one morning the fourth had been missing. The family hadn't noticed yet, and when they did they wouldn't care much anyway. Besides, little Dudder's would be turning ten in a few days. It was just as well that the miserable little pest they had housed for so long was finally gone.
