It was getting dark again, by far the worst part of his day. He would lock himself in his room, refuse to come out for anyone and for any reason. He swore his bed still smelled like her, reminding him of how much he missed her all over again. He'd curse her in his mind, then beg her to walk through the front door. He'd cry and then punch a wall because, dammit, it hurt so much!
Star would stop by and try to console him. But lets face it, his blue haired had no clue how to comfort. Then, since she would tag along, Tsu would tell him in a soothing voice how he could go visit her. But fuck that! He refused to talk to stone. He wanted her, not some stone that said her name. That wasn't her.
Seeing his friends always made him feel so much more guilty. He'd see them together, his friends with there partners, but he was alone. Shortly after the accident, he tried so hard not to isolate himself, but damn, it hurt. His friends tried so desperately to cheer him up, but then one evening he just snapped.
"How can you not miss her?!" He had snapped. "Do you guys even remember her?!"
They all shut up after that. Quit asking him how he was doing. Stopped telling him things would be ok in the end. They stopped trying, for they knew it did nothing to heal his wounds.
He also found out how sleep did not relieve any of this throbbing blob of pain that seemed permanently stuck in his chest and throat.
Sleep made it worse.
He'd dream of her. He could smell her, feel her, hold her. But this dark paradise abruptly and painfully halted as soon as he opened his eyes. He'd jump out of bed and run to the living room, the kitchen, her bedroom. His heart would soar as soon as he saw a body in her bed, and then drop when his eyes met the eyes of Blair. It wasn't his meister. He'd stand there in her doorway until Blair would sit up and walk over to him.
"Its ok, Soul-kun. Lets go visit her." She'd say, but he'd only tell her to 'fuck off' and 'mind your own busy, I'm fine'.
Then, he'd go about the day as if he was fine. As if he hadn't lost his only will for living. Even his family called to check up on him from time to time, but he'd just yell at them and tell them to leave him alone.
"She's only sleeping!" He said.
She's just sleeping.
Well, months past and he didn't get better. In fact, he felt so much worse. There was no relief anymore, she wasn't even in his dreams. He became sick. It wasn't until Black*Star came by and found him in bed, sleeping just as Maka was. There was no real diagnose for Soul, according to Stein he was perfectly healthy. And though there was mourning down on earth, something magical happened above.
He didn't feel pain anymore. In fact he felt as though he could run a race. Everything was so pretty too, it was like a beautiful garden but perfect. And right in the middle of it, right in front of him. Oh and she still smelt like cherry blossoms.
"Hi Soul." Maka smiled. "Did you miss me?"
