Happy birthday, Annabeth! I don't own PJO.

Annabeth yawned as she opened her eyes, and they drifted to the still sleeping Percy. Seaweed Brain better have a good present for me, she thought.

As they made breakfast, Percy had a typical Seaweed Brain moment, accidentally forgetting to put the top on the blender. Fruit flew everywhere, and Percy's shirt was soiled.

"You look good in fruit, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth teased, kissing him.

"Then maybe I should wear fruit to your birthday dinner tonight."

"Percy!" Annabeth gasped in mock horror.

"You know you love it." Percy kissed her cheek.

They tried to clean up, they really did. But the couple couldn't resist flinging fruit around.

"Tag! You're it," Annabeth cried upon hitting his shoulder with a slice of banana.

"You're it!" He threw the banana back at her, but she dodged.

"Ha! But, really, we should clean up now," she said, being the responsible one. He pouted.

"You're no fun." To make it up to him, she pressed her lips to his.

As Annabeth sketched her design for a new building, her cell phone rang. She peered at it. The caller ID was Sally Jackson. Annabeth took a deep breath and prayed silently Percy was okay.

"Honey, not to worry you, it's just a call for Percy," Sally reassured her. Annabeth let out her breath. "He'll be picking you up at five." Sally hung up.

Annabeth glanced at the clock. 4:00. Only one hour until she was going to see the world's most amazing boyfriend again. Annabeth turned her eyes back to her work.

Annabeth was looking for a car. She'd just begun to worry when the battered Prius with pegasi hoof dents pulled up. Annabeth slid into the passenger side and kissed Percy.

"Ready for your birthday?" Percy was, surprisingly, in a tuxedo. "Just for the love of my life," he explained. Annabeth kissed him again. The last time she'd seen him in a tux was in Paris.

As they drove, the couple kept up their amiable banter. Annabeth could only wonder what Percy had planned. He finally pulled the car into the parking of of a fancy restaurant. He offered her his arm.

"Ooh, fancy shmantzy," she teased, smirking, but accepted it anyway. They strode inside and Percy signed in. He'd apparently gotten a reservation. Despite herself, Annabeth calculated the cost in her head, and came up with an amount that seemed to have been saved up for a long time. Percy must have something really special planned. She made a mental note to give him an extra kiss later.

They sat at their table in a quiet area of the restaurant, holding hands. Soft music played in the background, and delicious aromas wafted from the kitchens. If this was a romance test, for once Percy would get an A.

The waiter came and deposited menus for them. Annabeth sipped her water, while Percy made his do little tricks. They ordered and made random small talk, but Annabeth knew Percy well. She could tell when he was nervous, and all the signs were present. As they ate their delectable meals, Percy grew more nervous.

Annabeth looked over the dessert menu. That chocolate cake looked so good. When the waiter came again, Annabeth had her order.

"I'll get the chocolate cake," she decided. The waiter nodded vaguely at Percy. Annabeth took the last sip of her water. Once the cake came, Annabeth dug in.

She noticed something glimmering in the dark recesses of the cake. A...ring?

She looked incredulously at Percy, who knelt down on one knee.

"Annabeth Chase, will you marry me?" Percy's sea green eyes had never looked more beautiful. Annabeth smiled. This was the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with. She'd always known that, deep in her heart. Now was the time to tell him that too.

"Yes!" And when they kissed, it was the best kiss of Annabeth's life.
