Annabeth... Annabeth... Please help me...
Jason's face appeared with a sad smile.
Annabeth... I love you...
Annabeth woke up sweating. Luke. Why Luke? She had Percy. Percy was kind. Percy was sweet. He was always there for her. So why was Luke there?
It wasn't time to think about that now. With Gaea getting stronger every day, humanity was in deep danger. She had to think. But no matter how hard she thought, it would always go back to Luke. At first she thought was survivor's guilt. But it wasn't. What she was thinking about was regret. She knew that. Regret that she thought she loved Percy more than Luke. Regret that she didn't hug him, kiss him, and tell him she loved him the days he died.
As Athena's child, she had to rational. Why dwell on meaningless things like love? There was no accomplishment from loving. But it felt like it. It felt like her head was thinking and playing. Felt like a battle she won. Felt like she was stronger, by letting her guard down and winning. And however circles that will spin and spin and spin in her head, she can't stop. That was love... it was trust and distrust at the same time. It was light and darkness at the same time. It was't comfort. It wasn't resolution. It was a big mess that drove her insane. Logic defied it. Logic would have said Percy. But Annabeth didn't care anymore. She loved Luke. And because he was never coming back, she will love him more. And more.
Fuck logic.
