Hello, fellow Elizabeth and Henry fans! This is my first one-shot fic for the show. It's my take on Sardixiis' story "Plans - Burgers and Bowling" but with a happy ending because I'm a sucker for happy endings. Happy reading and do read/review! Flames stay away, please.

They were supposed to do this together. To get back to being them, Elizabeth and Henry. Their marriage was this close to being on the rocks because Henry couldn't stop thinking about what happened to Dimitri and that every time he looked at her, he would be reminded of the young man. This whole burgers and bowling thing will help get it back to normal. At least, according to Dr. Sherman. They were supposed to get back to their circle of two, but now, that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Elizabeth McCord picked at her plate of a bacon cheeseburger and french fries, barely taking a single bite. She tried forcing herself to eat a little bit to keep her strength up, but Henry's harsh words kept echoing in her mind. Tears threatened to fall, but Elizabeth willed them back. She is the Secretary of State after all. She can't come across as soft or emotional in front of others no matter who they are.

"You promised. Henry," Elizabeth whispered. "Burgers and Bowling, remember?" Elizabeth asked, her question flowing out into the void, with no answer in return. The Secretary then got up from her seat to take her turn, picking up a ball that's much too heavy for her to lift. She managed to throw it down the lane, mentally crossing her fingers that it will hit a few pins. The ball rolled down the wooden lane at top speed and collided with seven of the ten white pins. Elizabeth almost jumped for joy at her effort and looked over her shoulder to express her happiness to Henry. A sense of reality hit her like a ton of bricks as an empty seat stared emotionlessly back at her.

Sighing, Elizabeth trudged back to her seat and put her head in her hands as her shoulders shook with quiet sobs. A strong hand was placed on her shoulder as a deep, masculine voice said, "Don't cry, Elizabeth. You know I can't bear it to see you cry." Elizabeth pulled her head out of her hands, her eyes widening with shock as her mind registered the voice. No, it can't be. Elizabeth thought, thinking that her mind is playing tricks on her in her emotional state.

"Babe? It's me." Henry prodded gently, hoping that Elizabeth would turn around. Elizabeth wiped her tears away with her sleeve and slowly turned around. There, standing in front of her, was her beloved Henry. A bright smile lit up across her beautiful face as she launched herself into her husband's arms. "You came!" Elizabeth breathed out as she kissed Henry with all the love that she had for him. Henry pulled away for a bit and said breathlessly, "I couldn't miss having burgers and bowling with my lovely wife, now could I?" Elizabeth said nothing and burrowed herself deeper in Henry's embrace, relieved that he is here and not some cruel mirage.

The two stayed like that for a while until Elizabeth broke their comfortable silence and said, "I knocked down seven pins." Her voice barely above a whisper. "That's great, Babe. I'm proud of you." Henry replied, pecking his wife on the lips. "Is it my turn now?" Henry asked as he let go of Elizabeth. "You're up, Professor," Elizabeth said, gesturing to their lane. Henry quickly went to the shoe rental counter and got some bowling shoes to change into. Then he picked up a deep blue bowling ball like a pro and sent it flying down the lane. The ball knocked down all the pins, making Henry's score a perfect strike. He then turned to Elizabeth with a self-righteous smirk as she muttered under her breath, "Show-off." before going up to take her next turn.

End.
