Read me!: This snippet takes place in West Harbor when the KC (Vinduil) is still only a child.
A Matter of Honor
.
The relationship between the Mossfeld brothers and Vinduil's merry little band was always a bit strained. But ever since Bevil went home with a broken nose, and Lorne decided to have a little talkwith Wyl and his brothers, they didn't dare to raise their hands against the other children.
This however didn't mean that there were peace between them, only that they tried to keep their fights verbal. The Mossfelds soon had to realize that the little drow boy with his quick mind proved more of a challenge than they had thought, and usually they had to retreat with the bitter taste of defeat in their mouth.
Then, one day when Wyl couldn't stand this any longer, he came up with his ultimate argument:
"But my father can beat up your father anytime!" he yelled, his face crimson with anger.
Vinduil fell silent.
He couldn't argue with this - it was not only hard to imagine Daeghun standing up against the huge, muscular Mossfeld elder, but Vinduil was also certain that such situation would never came to be. Daeghun would simply refuse to do something like this! His foster father never really understood such matters of honor, in Vinduil's opinion.
So that day, he had to leave the Mossfelds as victors and saunter home without an answer.
But, it still troubled him a lot.
This was why the next morning, anyone who would have looked out of their window in West Harbor could have seen a tiny and very dirty dark elf boy marching down the street with a muddy shovel over his shoulders. When Wyl noticed the unspeakable horror standing behind the elf, he almost fainted.
"You know," said Vinduil with a triumphant grin, "maybe your father can beat up my father, but my mother can beat up your mother any day!"
. .
A.n.: And poor Vinduil never really understood why does the whole village hate him. :)
