Lacy here. This scene pops into my head every time I watch Demonology and I just had to write it out. The song at the end of the episode, My Side of the Story by Hodges, is my inspiration for the story and it would be best to listen to it while reading this. This is in no way tied to my series. Just a one shot that I needed to write. Have fun.
Disclaimer: I don't own the show or the song. But I love both.

Emily stared off, her eyes unfocused. So many things were running through her mind and she couldn't seem to get them to stop but for once, she didn't care. It helped block out the lack of noise coming from everything else around her. She jumped as she felt a hand land on her arm. Turning, she found Hotch standing next to her, concern the only thing on his face. Emily felt the tears she'd been fighting come back and this time, she didn't bother fighting them. As the first ones made their way down her face, Hotch gently pulled Emily into his arms and just held her. Emily let herself cry for everything. For Matthew. For John. For everything she'd been through with those men and Hotch held her close, giving her the silent help he knew she needed. No words were exchanged. None were needed. True, Hotch wanted to apologize for not being there during the case but he knew Emily had already forgiven him by the way she let him hold her. If she had still been mad, she would have fought him. Emily wanted to thank Hotch for everything he'd done but as she slid her arms around his waist and felt him tighten his, she knew she already had. As the snow continued to fall, the two continued to stand together, letting the silence do all their speaking for them.

I just too easily see this happening. No words are needed, just the two of them there for each other. Let me know what you think, flame policy stands and thank you as always for reading.
