Birth of new life

It was a cool morning in Waycross of 2012. I was sleeping in my bed when the harsh tone of Skype call alert met my ear. Roused my slumber I went to the computer and answered. To my surprised Ying was staring back at me. She looked worried and sleepy.

"Hello Janie, sorry to wake you." She said clearly deprived of sleep.

"It's ok, but what is it?" I asked groggily.

"Your aunt is in labor." She said.

"Can I see her?" I asked slightly shocked.

"That may not be a good idea." She said.

"Please?" I asked

"Ok, Mel its Janie." Ying said to Melanie. As the camera panned over to Melanie, she had a pained expression. While Nancy coached her, I realized what had happened. She was in mid-contraction. Her back was tensed and her long brown hair was falling in matted tresses to her shoulders. Melanie was clearly racked by the force of the contraction. She was in agony.

"Angel, hurry." She said breathlessly as I got dressed then looked back at her.

"Aunt Mel I'm on my way,." I said dashing out the door after getting dressed and turning off my computer.

Melanie relaxed as she felt the pain subside. She looked over to Nancy, wishing she had a more comforting coach. As her gripped relaxed and she fell back into the bed. She needed family. She needed her niece.

"It's ok Mel, she'll be here soon." Ying said.

"Yeah why don't you practice your breathing exercises until she gets here." Nancy said sweetly.

"Good idea Nancy, I hope she gets here soon." Melanie said. Suddenly pain tacked her body. She was tense as she doubled over in pain. The pain spread like fire though her body. Then it was over, she fell back exhausted.

"You're doing great Mel, just breathe." Nancy said

"I don't feel great." Melanie said, "May I have some water? This is tiring me out."

"Of course." Nancy said pouring some from a pitcher into a glass. As Mel relaxed, Ying rubbed her shoulders sweetly. She sighed. With all the pain of birth, she needed this. It was nice to relax, after all the worst wasn't over.

"How's that Mel?" Ying asked.

"Perfect Yingy. Thanks." Melanie breathed. Suddenly she was in pain again. She stiffened as it surged though her. She was in severe pain as it peaked. Just like that, the worst was over. She was out of pain.

"There we go, the worst is over." Nancy said.

"Easy for you to say Nancy. You've already had yours." Melanie said.
