Prologue
A handsome, middle-aged man sat limply in his chair, wringing a severely-creased letter in his pale, perspiring hands. His wife, an elegant woman with dark hair and almond-shaped eyes, put a supportive arm around her husband's shoulders.
"It's going to be alright, dear," murmured the woman. "She's going to be alright. They said she had a chance of surviving."
The man exhaled, finally letting the letter flutter from his grasp. "I know, Lily. I'm just...worried."
"Josh, you know Julia better than I do," his wife continued, a half-smile curling sweetly and sincerely on her face. "She's a strong woman. She'll pull through, just wait and see."
Josh ran his calloused fingers through his tousled blonde hair and managed a wavering smile. "I hope so."
"I know so." His wife giggled softly before exhaling. "It's Jamie and Sophie I'm worried about."
Josh frowned. "What should we do about that? Ever since Sam died, Julia's been on her own. And they can't have a sitter for half the year. We won't even be around the house much because of Julia and work..."
Lily brightened. "Oh, come on, Josh. Think about it. We have a sixteen-year-old daughter in our hands, don't we?"
Josh's frown didn't lift from his face. "Do you think she'll be okay? I mean, she's only sixteen..."
Lily smiled knowingly. "We can count on her to responsible, Josh. We just need permission tomorrow."
This was the prologue, guys.
I guess it's a bit short, but...the rest of the story will be longer in length (I hope).
