Horatio hoped the others would understand as he stood there hatching his plan with Agent Caldwell. He knew they would be upset. But he felt that he had no choice. Their reactions had to be genuine or his "death" might not be believed. Everyone's except Ryan's anyway. He hated to admit it but Ryan was a good liar and a good actor. He could make the others believe.

He felt the worst for Eric. Between Speed, Marisol, the lawsuit and the shooting, his brother-in-law had been through a lot in past few years. He knew that he would have a lot to make up for when this was over, if he survived.

He tried to keep his mind on the plan as Ryan and Caldwell got him ready. He winced slightly as Ryan drew the blood needed to so that his death would appear real. Though he knew that pain was nothing to what it would be like to get shot in the vest by a high powered rifle.

Horatio slipped into his Kevlar and had Ryan tape the blood packet to his chest. He finished dressing and took one last look at his two companions.

"Time to do this," he said. "It's time for Horatio Caine to die."
