A/N:

I PUBLISHED IT AT MIDNIGHT I SWEAR MY COMPUTER IS JACKING UP OKAY

Ahem

Enjoy

Gajeel had always been intrigued by her.

Levy McGarden wasn't like any girl he had ever met. Tiny and shy, yet feisty as hell. She was a spitfire, that woman.

Making her mad was admittedly one of his favorite things to do.

It was always amusing to see whatever of the millions of books she was reading slam shut on the desk. To see her head whip around sharply and glare at him.

"What did you call me?"

Gajeel would always smirk then, no matter how hard he tried to suppress it.

"I said, whatcha readin, Short stack?"

And then her small brows would furrow and she'd scowl at him. Levy always looked adorable when she was angry.

Perhaps that was one of the reasons why he loved to piss her off.

Levy would then voice her disapproval with a grunt, inform him once again that her name was not "Short stack," and after muttering the name of whatever gigantic novel she had in her hands, she would go back to reading, as if nothing had ever happened.

Despite him annoying the hell out of her, and Gajeel knows this, she would still come over and read his books, because the only library closest to them was a three hour drive away, and that she'd found what he had to offer more interesting.

He however, just found her more interesting.

Gajeel was used to having Levy at his house almost every day. Walking in and seeing her settled on his couch with a book and coffee was the best part about his day. (Of course she didn't know this.)

"Hey Lev," he'd say as he shut the door and kicked off his shoes, patting her shoulder as he passed.

"Would it kill you to just call me Levy?" was the woman's reply, not looking up as she turned another page in the book she currently had in her hands.

"Ah, home sweet home." And with that, Gajeel would disappear into the kitchen to make dinner, because as Levy had learned, he was an amazing cook and she would always stick around after reading to eat.

What Gajeel wouldn't see was the small smile that would appear on her face as she turned another page in her book.

It was raining that night, and it was raining hard.

Gajeel always knew that Levy hated driving in this weather, so on nights like these, she would stay over.

Levy was always happy because it meant more reading and midnight snacks. The feeling was mutual because he loved to see Levy sleeping soundly in one of his t-shirts, that always looked like a dress on her. And she always looked adorable.

They were laying on his bed, Levy propped up against the pillows and reading silently, and Gajeel laying next to her, his eyes trained on her face. Every so often, she would crack a small smile, or frown a bit, or downright glare at the pages as if they were mocking her. He found it strangely incredible how one person could be so into a book.

This time she couldn't stop smiling.

"You really seem to like that book don't you?"

Levy glanced at him and giggled. "I do."

Gajeel frowned. Levy's giggled meant that she was most likely doing something she wasn't supposed to.

He reached over and plucked the book out of her hands. Not listening to her protests, he felt his face redden as he glanced at the cover.

"When I Grow Up, by Gajeel Redfox," he flushed. This was his third grade english lit. project.

"How in the hell did you find this?"

Levy didn't reply, she just kept giggling. Gajeel could only roll his eyes before he buried his face back in the nearest pillow.

"I hope you know that if you were anyone else you would be on the fucking street right now."

"Oh?" she stopped mid-giggle to look at him. "What am I? Some exception or something?"

Gajeel looked her in the eye before he stood up to turn off the lights, placing the terribly written paperback on one of his shelves.

"No. You're just you."

And then the lights were off.

It was a good thing too, because now Gajeel couldn't see the evident blush on her face.

Gajeel was a restless sleeper.

He looked over to see Levy sleeping, as she should be. She always looked like an angel in her sleep, as creepy as that might sound.

Her blue hair framed her snow-white face softly, like a cerulean halo that shone in the moonlight from the window.

Gajeel knew very well how he felt about her. Pure, soft, her. He realized then that if he didn't have her in his life, he didn't know what he would do.

As he leaned on his side, still gazing at her, all he could wonder was how he managed to have someone like her in his life.

And without really thinking, he did something he had never done before.

In seconds he had little Levy in his arms, secured protectively around her waist.

"I don't think I will ever be able to let you go, Shorty," he murmured to himself.

And only then was he able to close his eyes and fall into a peaceful sleep.

Little did he know that Levy was awake. And blushing even more than before.

That morning, things were different. Very different.

Gajeel picked his head up sleepily, almost surprised to see Levy not in bed.

"Eh?" he scratched his head in confusion, because all of a sudden, he could smell something cooking, and it smelled amazing.

Gajeel rolled out of bed and walked into the kitchen, the sight before him making him stop in his tracks.

There, in another one of his big shirts, was Levy. Her hair was a bit wet from what he could tell, and even stranger, she was cooking. Already two plates of pancakes and eggs were placed on the bar, with two cups of orange juice and a roll. She had just finished placing the last pieces of bacon on each plate before turning around and nearly falling forward in shock.

"Ga-Gajeel!? Oh don't do that, you nearly gave me a heart attack."

He didn't reply, still in complete awe as he looked around. "Did you make this?" he asked as if he couldn't believe it. Because really, he could not. "I thought you said you didn't know how to cook…"

Levy smiled at him then. "Oh, one night I read a few of your cooking books."

Gajeel was still doing double takes in the archway. "Why?"

"Because I'll need to know how to make breakfast considering I will be here again tonight. And pretty much the rest of this week."

"Huh?"

She laughed then. "Just sit down and eat already. Your food is getting cold."

Gajeel just stared at her before sitting on one of the stools and picking up a fork. After one bite, his plate was clean. Levy's cooking came as a complete surprise to him.

Levy smiled at him as she sat down next to him to begin eating. And before she did that, she kissed his cheek.

He was sure he was delusional right now, and he didn't notice it when he dropped his fork.

"Do you love me?"

"I-um...yes?"

She smiled even wider. "That's good enough for me. And I just wanted to let you know, I had a pretty great sleep last night." Levy winked at him once before walking out of the kitchen and into the bathroom.

And Gajeel could only stare.

He found himself doing that a lot lately.
