She Didn't Know

How could she have known about it?
Star knew about Marco's crush on her, but she didn't realize that it went this far.
Despite her cheerfulness and hyperactive perspective, she was still observant, able to notice the smallest details in backgrounds. She could have stopped it from going this far, if she had just noticed the signs. The overly tight hugs, the constant silent stares given her way, the talk they had after the Blood Moon Ball.
All were signs pointing towards this, but she didn't know.
She thought that he was her friend; a kind and close friend sure, but just a friend. The feelings that she had for him were strictly friendly and not romantic at all. She thought that he was sweet and charming and weird, but a cool weird and she did find him to be cute. But that didn't mean that she would date him. For Pete's sake, she told him about her crush on Oscar.
Star didn't know that he had a shrine to her hidden in his underwear drawer.
There were pictures, pictures of her. The sheer amount of pictures of her were enough to make her stomach flip. Pictures of her sleeping in her teal nightgown, pictures of her walking to the school bus with him. She never questioned why he always took her picture at the most inappropriate times. She always thought that he enjoyed taking pictures for fun and as a hobby, but not like this. Not like a stalker.
Pictures weren't the only things within the drawer, and she picked up a ziplock bag. She peered into it and gasped when she saw the contents of the bag itself.
Thin, long strands of blond hair were neatly placed inside of it, the color familiar to her. In fact she could have recognized it anywhere after staring at it in the mirror.
Oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god
She nearly gagged when she saw it. A tingle rang up and down her spine as horror finally crept up into her body.
Her hair. Her hair was in a ziplock bag.
Memories came flooding back to her, moments from the past now back to haunt her. All those times he had "accidentally" brushed his hand up and down her bare knee when they sat close to each other.
Had they actually been planned?
How about those times where he had walked close behind her, whipping her hair so that he could smell it?
Had she been given clues about her best friend's obsession with her all this time? How could she have been this stupid?
Stupid stupid stupid girl. Stupid ignorant oblivious blind girl.
She had always worn bathing suits around him. She slept in the same house as him. She had always thought of him as sweet. Not this.
Never this.
The sound of a door opening caught her attention, causing her to freeze. She knew that it was the bedroom door. Wide eyed, pale faced, Star stayed still as one hand wrapped itself around her head, clamping down on her mouth.
She didn't scream, she couldn't. Not with the breath tickling her ear. A familiar voice whispered into her ear, one that filled her with dread.
"Don't scream star... I just want your heart."
