Karaoke Girls

"Okay, tell me why we're doing this again," Hildie said.

"We're keeping Noin out of trouble," Sally replied.

"That one diplomat won't stop hitting on her, and my brother's not here to rescue her. Because her ankle isn't completely healed, Noin couldn't go on the mission with him," Relena added.

"Noin's going to kill the guy unless we keep her away from him, and I don't think Zechs would be happy to return to find his girlfriend in jail for murder," chipped in Cathy. "However warranted it was."

"So we agreed to humiliate ourselves in front a room full of total strangers?"

"You've never been to a real karaoke bar, have you?" Sally said.

"What difference is there?"

"At a real Japanese karaoke bar, which is where we're going, you rent a room to sing in; no one hears you except your friends.

The four of them met Lady Une and Noin in front of the karaoke bar. The sic of them bought snacks and drinks and headed up to their room. It was small. A couch ran along two of the walls, and a table sat in the middle of the room. In one corner of the room sat the karaoke machine. There were several microphones, a remote control for the karaoke machine, and three thick books of songs.

They set to work finding songs to sing. Noin and Sally started them off with Goodbye Earl. Relena treated them to her rendition of I Will Survive. Sally and Noin convinced Lady Une to sing Dumb Blond. Hildie had them all in stitches with her version of Secret Agent Man.

Then Cathy came up with the idea of finding songs that fit each person at Preventer Headquarters. They decided on the Joker for Due. Sally got That Don't Impress Me, and they chose the Sound of Silence for Trowa. Relena was given the song hands, and Bridge Over Troubled Waters was chosen for Noin. Hildie got Tomorrow because she was so cheerful. While they were musing over a song for Cathy, Relena decided to sing MacArthur park. This started a bad song contest.

Noin ended up winning with her version of Bobby's Girl. After that they got into singing their favorite love songs. This progressed into doing really bad impressions of rock stars.

By the end of the evening they were tired, hoarse, and had crossed into the giggle zone where just about anything was funny. They had just called it quits when Sally looked at her watch, "Do you guys realize that it's three a.m.?"

Relena yawned, "What? You have got to be kidding."

Noin checked her own watch, "She's right."

They stumbled outside, hailed a cab, and piled inside.

"That was actually fun," Hildie said.

Relena grinned, "Told you so."
