"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing. It's nothing." Camille tore her gaze away from the car window and gave Shawn her most reassuring smile. He raised a suspicious eyebrow as she absently chewed on her bottom lip. "You're a terrible liar." She released a breath. "I think my parents are having second thoughts about letting me move to New York. "Is that all? Camille, you could convince a duck that you were his best friend. I doubt your parents would stand a chance." He chuckled. "This is serious! I'm worried they'll guilt trip me into staying!" She huffed. "Hey, don't worry about it! If they know what's best for you, which they do, they'll let you move." Shawn said, putting his hand on her shoulder.
She thought it over for a second. After all they were the ones who wanted her to get into an Ivy League school in the first place. "Okay. I'm sorry it's just things have been.." Camille searched for the right word. "Hectic." It was true. Her mother was nearly driving her insane with all of the paperwork that needed to be filled out in order for the move to go "smoothly".
"It'll all be over soon." He squeezed her hand. There was that word again. Soon. She'd live on her own soon. She'd forget about her old friends soon. She'd learn to live without seeing Shawn soon.
The last one terrified her.
"Are you sure you're okay with it? The move?" She asked reluctantly. His honey eyes met hers. "As long as you're happy, I'm okay." Camille frowned. He would never ask her to stay, even if he wanted her to. He parked across the street from her house. "Here we are. Please don't stress about it. I'll be fine. Go get some sleep." He chided. Camille was not entirely convinced but she did need sleep. "Okay, I love you." She gave him a quick kiss. "I love you more." She got out of his car and began to cross the street. Camille turned and blew him a kiss. That's when everything went black.
