Suit and Tie

Len is formal around everyone. It doesn't make a difference if it is a stranger, his classmates, or even his mother.

It is understandable with strangers—he doesn't know them and therefore he is respectful. That was ingrained into his mind when he was little and his first tutor appeared at the door. By accident, he spoke with the tutor as though they were friends.

His grandmother made sure that he didn't repeat that again.

At school, his classmates never spoke to him more than they had to. At first, the boys would hang around him, asking him to join in their soccer game or see if they can practice during lunch together.

They were (and still are) below his standards so he refused. Bluntly, to the point, and without anything to make it seem as though he wanted to join them at all.

Over a span of time, the boys stopped talking to him.

("Arrogant, isn't he?"

"He's so self-centered."

"Ignore him, he doesn't talk to anyone.")

The girls were harder to get rid of. They came in droves, proclaiming a love that came from his looks more than his soul.

He is formal with his classmates because they are strangers as well. Friends are not needed, something that will only take away his time, and most people in his school are only interested in appearances.

There is a reason he is formal around even his parents is a harder one to pinpoint. It is there because of years of being left alone.

You need to be with someone in order to become friends. You need to stay nearby so that you aren't strangers.

His parents never did that. They were famous, on tour everywhere but at home.

("Where is mother?"

"She has a performance in Germany."

"When will she be back?"

"In five months. But only for three days because she has a concert in China to attend and then a tour in Spain."

"Where's father?"

"He has a meeting in England. Expect him in three months. He's busy then, though, so you might not see him a lot.")

He only caught a glimpse of them, no more than their fans did, and all he knew about them were things that he found out while researching—researching about his own parents.

("Hello, Len."

"Hello, madam."

"I'm your mom! You don't need to talk like that to me."

"…Mother. Nice to hear from you again."

"Happy birthday, Len!"

"Thank you, mother. It is nice of you to tell me this."

"Your dad says happy birthday as well."

"Thank Father for me. It is nice to hear from him as well."

"You're still speaking formally…")

He doesn't know how else to talk to them. They are faceless figures for most of his youth, people he only saw when they took him to parties. When he had a birthday, they were more often than not abroad and during his concerts they would need someone to tape it for them to watch.

Len speaks formally to his parents because that is the only way he knows.

A/N: I hope my idea is able to be seen clearly…I'm worried about that, but I'm also sort of happy with this piece. I think I could have made it better, but I like the idea.

I guess it balances out.
