Spending Impulsions

Purple Garnet waltzed throughout the building the Earth inhabitants call "Target". It was heavily crowded, and the humans were still not used to gems; so she got quite a bit of stares. It was nothing she wasn't used to, though, so she just ignored them as she placed every object she saw fit into the cart. Diapers? Didn't know what they were, but they looked cool. So she bought them. Didn't know how to pronounce it, either. So the clerk had a good chuckle when she tried pronouncing them.

She bought random items she had no clue she didn't need. She bought dog food. They don't have a dog. She bought cat litter; they don't have a cat either. She bought cleaning detergent- their pods are self-cleaning. She continued placing random objects in her cart until she was thoroughly satisfied. She pulled out her- what is it they called it again? Ah! A wallet!- and paid for the items. It rang up to be around 400 American dollars. The Gems didn't have much American currency, they had about 800 dollars total in the two months they were living on Earth.

Purple Garnet got back to the house and dropped all the objects on the floor. Lolite heard the commotion, but didn't bother checking it out. She figured PG was having one of those days, so she left it be. When an eerily silent two hours past and PG still hadn't greeted her; Lolite curiously went to go check what had happened. There was a vast amount of random objects about the living room floor.

"Oh, hello Lolite. How're you doing." Lolite was pulled from her shock, and looked at her darker gemfriend- girlfriend?- smiling happily at Lolite.

"H-Hey PG. What's all this?" She looked around at all the random items lying around, "and how much did it all cost?"

"I went to that store the earthlings call 'Target', and found a lot of great things!"

"Okay, and how much did this cost?"

"About 400 USD."

"PG! WE ONLY HAVE 800! YOU WIPED THROUGH HALF OF OUR SAVINGS?!"

"Uh-oh."

"Yeah, uh-oh! How could you be so careless?"

"Impulse, Lolite. It's something you deal with food and sleep all the time."

"Okay, yeah- but that doesn't wipe out half of our bank account! We'll have to pick up jobs."

"Or we can start charging the city more when we save them?"

"YOU'RE BRILLIANT! But next time, I swear to the Quartzes.. don't ever, EVER, spend that much money like nothing again, are we understood?"

Purple Garnet nodded.

"Good. Now come here." Purple Garnet sauntered shyly towards Lolite and looked down at Lolite. When their eyes met, Lolite smiled stood up on her tip toes and pressed her lips against PG's cheek.

"Let's put all this stuff up." She noticed the bag of dog food. "We don't even have a dog!"

"But we could get one!"

"Or a cat!"

"We could get that one too!"

"Do you want to?"

"Yeah! I've heard from humans that pets are the best thing on the planet."

"For once, the humans may not be entirely stupid."
