Broken
Deep down, in his heart of hearts, Getsui Suzaku fully expected to be killed.
And he accepted it, with a calm face and a smile masking the pain. He didn't care anymore. Not about his life, not about his death, and not about the wolf trying to talk him into running away. The five tailed Gobi was always a coward.
He felt nothing for the wolf, his only companion in an empty compound filled with broken dreams and shattered promises. He felt nothing for the village that was supposed to protect him and condemned him to death when they sealed a demon in him and left him in his clan house to rot. For he was a monster, and they were his betters.
Suzaku had been born in a forest village with one mission: to protect the demon in exchange for power. His clan had been nearly wiped out by Iwa's constant grabs for the demon. He only had his father, the supposed village leader, a coward who volunteered his heir to be the child who protected them all and abandoned the demon child two years later and left. Suzaku supposed he had been killed. He wasn't surprised to find he didn't care.
They had sent his grandmother to watch him then. She wasn't really his grandmother; she was just an old lady with the kindest broken heart. She had stayed with him for six years, teaching him manners and love and that he loved popsicles. He buried her underneath the sakura tree.
They never sent anyone else. Perhaps they didn't care.
Suzaku was alone. He talked to the wolf, read his books, and made popsicles just like grandmother taught him. Somewhere along the way, he died.
He wasn't surprised when the blue haired lady in the black cloak with red clouds appeared in a cloud of origami paper. He asked her name and she answered Konan.
He asked her if she was to kill him and she nodded, for a second he thought she might have been sympathetic. Then he shook it off and dismissed that thought. He was a monster. No one cared.
He smiled and glanced at the full moon. He held out his hand and she took it.
Suzaku smiled wider. He could pretend. Even if it lead to his death, he could pretend he was still loved.
End.

A/N: This is a sort of idea I had about one of my OCs for a story I have in the works. If it's not obvious, Suzaku is the Gobi jinchuuriki, who had the Gobi sealed into him so his village could try and better protect the Gobi as a jinchuuriki, unaware that it was fueled by a hate of their obligation to the Gobi, which they broke in leaving Suzaku alone. If this were canon, this would probably take place around the time Akatsuki goes after Nii, the Sanbi, and the Yonbi jinchuuriki.
Tell me what you think, if you would.
Later.
