Author's Note: I do not own Harry Potter or Beauxbatons. (Wish I did!) Almost all characters are OC's.
Elle's POV:
"Well Angelina, I guess this is goodbye until summer." I hugged my sister for the last time until my boarding school let out for the summer.
I had been accepted into Beauxbatons Academy of Magic this past summer. The only thing was, it was so far away. I lived in New York City and had been a transfer students many times before, but never this far away – I was going to France!
I got on the airplane and hoped that I would be able to understand someone at Beauxbatons.
When I stepped off the plane, I heard many voices, none of which could I understand.
« Hé, je dois te parler! »
« Est que mon sac sur le porteur de bagage? »
« Salut, il est si bon de vous revoir! »
"Oh, no." I knew that this wouldn't be good.
I attempted to find my way, but it was not an easy task, not being able to speak or read French.
I soon met a group of girls who looked just about as confuzzled as I was, so I went up to them.
I pulled out my pocket phrase guide and asked, « Êtes… vous… allant… tout… à… l'académie? »
A pretty girl stepped forward and said with a smile, "Oui, and yes, we are. Beauxbatons, right?"
"Yes! Thank you. So what do we do from here? The letter was in French and, well, you just saw how I handle foreign languages."
"Oh, we just wait here until a woman in the school's traditional dusty blue-colored coat comes to take us to the school. We still have quite some time left."
While we waited, the girl and I (who introduced herself as Fleur Delacour) talked a lot. I found out that she only speaks limited, casual English, and that I would help her. She would also help me with my French so that I would do better in the lessons at school.
"I love your hair! Is it because you are French?"
"Well… actually I'm not that French. My grandmother was actually a veela."
"What is a, um, veela?"
'It is basically an enchanting magical woman who get simply put, get men when we dance and we attract them even when we don't. I am only one quarter veela."
"Wow, I wish I was that interesting. I'm actually muggle-born, so I don't know much about magic things."
"Don't worry Elle, I'll help you catch up your eleven years that you missed out on."
"Thanks Fleur. I just know that this year is gonna be totally awesome!"
"You know it."
And we talked until the woman came to get us.
