"Young Miss?"
The childhood friend trio stood at the edge of the cliff that Felicita once stood only moments before she pushed Pace away. It gave out on her and she fell. That was the last scene the three men seen before they blacked out in panic. Luca was held back from jumping off the cliff himself by Pace while Debito rushed to the edge to look for her. She held on with one hand to a branch that was about to snap. She was only able to mouth help before she fell. Luca jumped from Pace's arms and into the ocean with her, huddling her in his arms and shielding her from any impact. Both of the two had to be hospitalized. Luca recovered long before Felicita.
One week had passed before Felicita finally opened her eyes for the first time. Her body felt heavy and unknown to her, like she had stepped into someone else's.
"Young Miss?" Luca was turned around in the door (he was just making his way out for another cold towel to put on her head before he heard a rustle of her sheets). His shocked face poured down tears when he seen her brilliant green eyes staring back at her. "Young Miss!" He hurried to her side and held onto her arms, his head buried deep inside the many blankets that weighed down on her.
She grasped his black suit with her tiny fingers, wrapping them around his arm with everything she had because she knew that he would turn away from her in only seconds after he knew she was alright.
"That was dangerous," he mumbled in the blankets. "You could have hurt yourself if I hadn't jumped after you." He looked to her with adult eyes—eyes she had almost never seen him posses unless it was for her, her and only her. "Please don't do such things, Young Miss. I would much rather see myself hurt than you."
"But I wouldn't!" she protested. "I don't want to see you hurt or injured even at the risk of my own life."
Her statement seemed to take the man by surprise as he drew back from her; however, the stubbornness in his eyes remained strong. "No. It is my job to look over and protect you. If I can't do that, what use am I to you?"
Felicita placed her hand on his head and stroked his hair in a back and forth motion. "Stay by my side," she said. "That is all you have to do for me to make me happy."
"Young Miss." His body tingled, his heart tightened, his eyes were beginning to water. What a fine master he served, he was thinking. "Young Miss is so kind, but you are the most important person to me. If you forgot me, I don't know what I'd do—it scares me to think that you would forget—but, more than that, I wouldn't be able to live if you were to die. Is that not how you feel?"
She smiled as well as the man. "I do."
"Because Young Miss is very important to me that's why—"
"I do because I love you, Luca." She placed both her hands on his cheeks and kissed him softly. "I love you so much that I'd die for you."
