Just something short dedicated to my favorite princess.I don't like seeing her bashed, and so I had to do something. Hope you enjoy.

Whoever said love wasn't selfish did not truly understand what love truly was. Of course it was selfish. It was a human emotion. Anything human was selfish. Everybody was selfish. Even those who weren't supposed to be. People like her, royal blood, who should have been able to share everything she had with her kingdom. She was selfish too.

She hadn't meant to be. In reality she really wasn't supposed to be. Not with him. Link was a goddess gift. He was a savior. A hero. A wish come true. A dream. A person Zelda could never reach. The goddesses would never permit her to have him. They wouldn't ever let her call him her own. She wanted to though. She would admit that.

Link was different than most boys. He was not like a suitor that saw her only as his lesser on the throne. He saw her as beautiful. What he saw was a strong princess. He thought she was as pure as the virgin snow. He believed in her more than her own countrymen really. But he did not understand love. Not the love she wanted. He loved her as friend. Her intentions were not so pure. She wished they were though.

If both were pure then maybe they could both be together. There was something keeping them apart. Maybe that was it. She didn't know anymore. She hadn't thought about those things in a while. Her thoughts had been preoccupied with thoughts of if he and she could actually be. That was more enjoyable than realizing it couldn't ever happen. In her mind it could.

In her mind he only saw her. There was no farm girl, no forest girl, no Zora girl, no any other girl period. And in her mind there was only him. There was simply a wonderful blue eyed hero who rescued from every danger their lives presented. And if she played the damsel card one too many times, so what? She was the princess. He was her hero. She had the right to be selfish with him.

"I'm selfish." She said to him one day. "I think it's only fair to tell you."

He smiled. He took her hand in his and gave it a quick peck. "That's ok. I'm selfish too."

Whoever said love wasn't selfish was a damn fool. A damn fool who didn't know what true love really was and obviously didn't have it in their hands.
