A/N: This is just a little spmething that came to me while working. The first chapter to the sequel of Breanking up and moving on is ready, I'm just waiting for my beta to do her thing. It should be up soon (I hope). While that doesn't come, enjoy this one shot!
Disclaimer: I don't own Bones.
"Bones, please don't do this," Booth said, his grip on her hand stronger than necessary.
"Booth, I told you, I'm doing this. It's my decision," she said, determination echoing on her voice as she looked down to the river underneath them.
"But you don't have to jump. You don't have to do this," he said, taking in the whispers of the crowd gathered around them, but he didn't care about them. All he saw was the woman standing in front of him, preparing to jump of off one of the highest bridges in the country.
She was gripping the metal rail, standing on the outside of the bridge. The wind blew strong but she didn't feel cold. "Come on, just give me your other hand and I pull you back to this side".
"Booth, I love you, and you know that, but I have to do this. And you have to let me," she said softly, her eyes searching his as she tried to get him to understand that this was something she had to do. So he slowly loosened the grip on her hand and pulled his own hand away. She slowly tilted her head and kissed his lips, a very light touch.
"Why?" he asked when she pulled back.
"Because, I want to fell what it feels like⦠to be that free," she said as she opened her arms, spreading her fingers to fell the wind.
"Don't jump," he said in a last attempt to stop her.
"Too late," she said smiling as she pushes her body forward and her feet leave the edge of the bridge. He gasps and leans against the rail as he hears her screaming all the way down. He watched helpless as her body neared the water only to be jump back up as the elastic cord pulled her back up. When her movements ceased, he heard her laughter all the way up.
"See, I told you it was safe! Why don't you try?" she yelled, giggling when she was released, falling into the river.
"I prefer to stay on the ground, thank you," Booth yelled back as he watched the next mad person prepared to jump.
Damn you, woman, and your dangerous sports, he thought. Why couldn't she just do yoga or something?
