DISCLAIMER: I OWN NOTHING THAT BELONGS TO SMALLVILLE AND SUPERMAN; ONLY CHLOE'S SON WHO I MDE UP.
Chapter 1:
Chloe Sullivan's blood ran cold and her heart felt as though it had stopped. She had only turned her head for TWO seconds and when she turned back her son was gone from the sandbox. Her eyes automatically scanned that Metropolis City Park looking for the tiny blonde headed four year old. He couldn't have gone gotten that far….unless someone grabbed him and ran off. Now Chloe's entire body was flooded with panic. She read about this happening to other parents all of the time but she never dreamt in a million years that something like this could happen to her too.
Chloe instantly snapped out of her horrifying thoughts when she heard her son's voice yell, "Come back puppy!" She saw him way at the other end of the park chasing after a shaggy stray dog. She was momentarily flooded with relief until she saw that he was headed right off the perfectly mowed green grass and into Metropolis's busy late afternoon traffic.
Before she even realized what she was doing she found herself racing after her son. She had just reached the sidewalk when he stopped in the middle of the street. "Where'd the puppy go?" He asked in an innocent voice looking around confused. Chloe was just about to run and grab him when a huge truck flew by and violently swerved crashing into a streetlight. People began to gather around looking on in shock and amazement. Chloe herself couldn't even begin to form a coherent thought or feeling. The only thing she could see was the scene of her son being hit by a truck playing over and over again in her mind.
Everything around her went black and there was a loud ringing in her ears that she quickly realized was cheering. "Look its Superman!" She heard someone yell out with delight. Her vision finally returning, Chloe saw as Superman slowly swooped down from the sky holding her son safely in her arms. The relief, joy, and thankfulness she felt was indescribable. A smile appeared on her face; of course Clark would come to the rescue, he always did.
"Excuse me Miss, I believe that this belongs to you." He said in a powerful yet sweet voice that she hadn't heard in years. Chloe looked directly into the clear green eyes of Clark Kent and watched as his expression turned from heroic to shocked. After all he hadn't seen Chloe Sullivan since she moved to Gotham City in her senior year of college. "Chloe?" He whispered to himself in amazement.
"Mommy!" The tiny four year old squirmed out of his arms and ran right to Chloe, clutching her leg happily. "Did you see where the puppy went?" He was too young to understand the seriousness of what had just happened. The crowd grew larger by the second and Chloe picked up her son, hugging him to her closely. "Thank you." She whispered to Superman as he slowly vanished out of sight by people surrounding him to congratulate him on another one of his victories.
Clark wanted more than anything to run after Chloe but he was so confused. A large gust of wind swept through the area as he quickly took off back into the sky; his destination, The Fortress of Solitude.
