Prologue:

A young girl huddled in a corner made by a couch and a chair, hands clamped over her ears and hot tears streaming down her face. She was trying to block the screams out of her head, keeping them from imprinting themselves in her memory. She was so swept up in her fear, she completely missed the uniformed men barging through the door and stampeding through her hiding place.

One of the men, a kind faced young man, stopped next to her. He knelt down and slowly pulled her hands away from her ears. Slowly opening her eyes, she saw the kind smile and flung herself at the man it belonged to. He stood up and pulled her with him. Walking out of the house, he headed to his car and sat himself on the hood, dragging her onto his lap. She buried her face into his chest and hid herself from the outside world.

When the rest of the men came out of the house, it was with two bodies in tow. The man held the girl's face to his chest, not letting her see any evidence of the tragedy she had experienced.
