The first time Star felt something for Marco was on a Sunday afternoon, they were just watching TV. Star looked over at Marco, who smiled in return. The sunlight shining on his face and his messy hair hanging over his forehead, smiling brightly at Star, none of this failed to make Star's heart skip a beat. And this was when she realized her feelings for Marco ran deeper than friendship. Her mind should have been racing, but only one thought seemed to ring in her head.

Oh God.

The second time Star felt something for Marco was quite the experience. They were simply running around the house like children, as they do, when Marco decided to cheekily sweep Star into a dance. Their movements swayed back and forth, and so up close and personal, Marco seemed to catch onto what Star was feeling in that moment. Marco had then decided to dip Star, and their noses brushed as Marco gave Star a tiny smug, knowing grin. Her heart was pounding, her legs were weak, and worst of all Star was certain that Marco knew she was feeling this way.

Oh God.

And so ever since that incident, whenever given the chance, Marco would tease Star about her little crush on him, unspokenly, of course, they never discussed it, but in little ways, Marco would ensure that Star was left flustered when he could. Like lingering touches, and maybe getting a little too close when they talked, or watched TV together. Speaking low in her ear whenever possible, and chuckling to himself internally when he noticed her shiver at the action. Star was always flustered from these things. And one day, after a moment in particular which left Star reeling, she realized that Marco was doing these things on purpose.

Oh God.

Truthfully, Marco really did have some feelings for Star, and his habit of teasing her as of late has strengthened these feelings. So naturally, when Star began to get him back, so to speak, he was left feeling confused, flustered, and weak. Star was not going to hold back, because this meant war. If Marco was going to mess with her, she would mess back. But when Marco brought it up, Star began to feel an unfamiliar panic, instead of comparing it to war, he compared it to chess, which was an interesting perspective, or at least Star thought so. And this was when he kissed her, she had melted into the kiss immediately, clutching to him, and before she knew it, he was walking away, and he only stopped and turned back to say one thing, "checkmate, Star."

Oh God.
