Helen Magnus woke up and groaned. Here is was again: the official Talk Like A Pirate day. She had always hated September the 19th because of it. Every year prior, Henry had walked around in full pirate guise: Hat, dirty white shirt, peg leg, boots, sword, and of course, the eyepatch. He would walk around, slapping an eyepatch on everyone who crossed his path.
Yes, it was a very good day to stay clear of Henry. Kate, Will, and Bigfoot were just as bad.
It seemed that she and Nikola were the only reasonable ones. Of course, he could be very unpredictable, and she should hope for the best.
Groaning, she hauled herself out of bed. On several occasions she had to duck out of sight when Henry, Will, Kate, or Bigfoot walked past. When she finally made it to her office, she locked the door, leaned against it, and breathed a long sigh of relief. Nikola sneaked up behind her, eyepatch in hand. He had been hiding in a shadowed corner behind her fireplace. He suddenly snapped the eyepatch over her head, and she promptly span around.
"Nikola, not you too!"
"Arrgh, ye can't expect me to break tradition, can ye?" His pirate accent truly was horrible, but he didn't care.
She gave him a stern look and said "Yes, I absolutely can."
He just grinned and said in a normal voice "No, you really can't. You respect tradition even more than I do, and so I am going to make you have fun today."
She gave him one of her infamous incredulous looks and said "And how to you plan to do that?"
He grinned even wider and said "By enforcing at least one old pirate tradition: A pirate may kiss the first lady who catches his fancy on her birthday."
She lost the patronising smile and took on a look of shock. "I completely forgot! And no way in the world are you kissing me!" In actuality, she wanted him to kiss her but the emotional sheild she had built was talking for her.
"Sorry Helen, you can't argue. It's tradition." With that he sped forward and captured her lips in a passionate kiss. She made to move away, but he wrapped his arms around her torso and arms.
Soon, all coherent thought was lost as he gained entrance into her mouth. She freed her arms and wrapped them around his head, running her fingers through her hair.
"Maybe speak like a pirate day isn't so bad after all..."
