Lost Love

It was during a monthly meeting when it happened.

Jack was sitting between Bunny and Sandy as he ignored the regular argument of Christmas versus Easter between North and Bunny. Tooth was across from him, giving instructions to her fairies non-stop.

It had been a year since he had become a Guardian, and he continued to wonder if these monthly meetings were necessary. They saw each other regularly (apparently more often than before Jack joined the group, but no one really breached the topic as to why, but they all knew). So, these monthly meetings weren't needed- he saw North, Sandy, and Bunny yesterday, and saw Tooth the day before.

Not to mention it was boring. Oh so boring. He wanted to go out and have some fun. He didn't want to sit here and listen to all of this all over again. Why did people argue this much? He didn't recall having argued with someone as much as his fellow Guardians. In his entire life he'd only argued with…

He remembered arguing with someone. What was it about? He didn't think it was from is time as a spirit. It felt like those distant memories he still couldn't really grasp. He had ahold of his sister's face and her smile and most of their adventures, but besides that it was foggy. So, who was he thinking about? Why was she so important anyway? How did he know it was a she?

Then it hit him. It hit him like a tidal wave and he felt nauseous as he felt his finger brush through her light, ash blonde hair. It fell just past her shoulders and slight curls decorated the ends. A braid and ribbon was tided behind her head. Her light blue eyes finally showed themselves from under her brown bonnet as she looked up at his face. His heart raced and their faces came closer and closer, until lightning shot through his system and her lips tasted like sirup-

"Snowflake."

Jack's head ripped towards Bunny, and the rabbit didn't hide the fact he was annoyed.

"Are you going to give an update?"

The winter child looked at the table as he hid his upper arms beneath the wood. Jack's hands were shaking, and if it didn't freeze immedatly he would have been sweating. He swallowed a couple time and put on a shaky smile.

"Everything is good on my end. Nothing abnormal happening last I checked."

It was obvious that the Guardians noticed his sudden change in demeaner. Bunny's facial expression changed from annoyed to concerned as he eyed the poorly hidden and shaking limbs under the table.

"Are you ok there, Frostbite?"

Jack nodded, not trusting his voice.

"But you're shaking, Sweet Tooth!"

Jack shook his head as if he was clearing out cobwebs instead of replying to Tooth's statement.

"No, guys, I'm fine," he said. "I'm just excited to get back outside. You know- snow days are the best days!"

No one was buying it, and he could tell. But he wasn't willing to stay here and let them interagate him. He was truly ready to leave Santoff Clausen.

So, he jumped out of his seat, waved and yelled his goodbyes, and took off out of "his window."
