Warrick rushed around his house trying to get everything perfect. Catherine was scheduled to be there in an hour and if he knew her, which he likes to think he does, she would be there soon. He had cooked one of the only meals he was good at, pasta and garlic bread. He had bought an expensive bottle of wine, as he was hoping for it to be a special occasion.
As he rushed around throwing things in his closet, and stuffing objects under furniture he head the doorbell ring. Chuckling to himself, he went to answer it. His breath caught in his throat when he saw Catherine standing there. She was dressed in a maroon slip dress that hugged her curves. She smiled at his reaction and leaned in to give him a soft kiss. He led her into the dining room, and pulled the chair out for her.
"Wow Warrick. I know that it's our one year anniversary, but you went all out didn't you?" she asked.
"It's a special occasion," he said not letting on to his double meaning.
"It certainly is," she commented.
He served the food, and they ate in a comfortable silence. He convinced her to leave the dishes until later and she followed him into the living room. He guided her to the couch, and sat next to her. He took a deep breath, excited about the plans he had made. He pulled out a ring box and knelt down on the floor next to her looking at her shocked face.
I'll always remember the song they were playing
The first time we danced and I knew
As we swayed to the music and held to each other
I fell in love with you
"Remember at Nick's party when we danced?" he asked. She nodded seemingly unable to communicate. "That's when I knew I was in love with you."
"But you didn't say anything for months," she whispered.
"I knew I loved you Cath, but I wasn't sure if you loved me," he grinned. "I love you Catherine. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?"
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life
Would you be my partner then every night
When we're together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life
"Are you sure?" she questioned. "I've got Lindsey. I'm older than you. I."
"I love Lindsey like a daughter. Age doesn't matter, you should know that. Besides, it's only a few years. I love you," he repeated sliding the ring on her finger.
"Yes Warrick!" she squealed jumping into his arms. "I'll marry you."
I'll always remember that magic moment
When I held you close to me
Cause we move together I know forever
You're all I'll ever need
"Dance with me?" he asked.
"Okay," she agreed.
He led her to his stereo, and pushed play. He already had the c.d. he wanted in.
"Warrick, this is." she started.
"Yes," he cut her off. "This is the song we first danced to."
"I love you Warrick," she whispered.
"I love you too," he replied catching her lips with his.
