"You know, dear, that it's you I want to spend the rest of my life with."

He slides the ring onto her slender finger and looks up into her eyes.

"Took your time," she smiles, and throws her arms around his neck.

The two bodies are carried in separately, but they lie together on the cold stone floors, among those who fought and fell just as bravely. A sentimental friend has joined their hands together, and they rest as if they are sleeping.

Mourners begin to circle them, and amidst the cries and the anguish, they light candles and lift them into the air. The two lovers are surrounded now by the glowing memorials that float freely in a circle above them.

The bereaved now retreat, as it feels wrong to intrude on such a moment. They leave their dear friends in peace, with their love and memories held close in their hearts.

Reflected in the gold band, the candlelight flickers and dances a dozen tributes to the much loved pair.
