Druella Black was walking through the leaky Cauldron one dreary Tuesday afternoon. She had a small blonde child with her, one with a pointed nose and a stoic like face. "Ok now Cissy, I've already bought your books and supplies, but unfortunately you need to be present for your wand choosing," she sighed.
Narcissa just nodded and looked straight ahead. "I know you'll make mommy and daddy proud with a nice strong wand." A flicker of emotion flashed across Narcissa's smooth features, was it fear or something else?
Her mother tapped the wall with her wand, and a brick archway formed. Narcissa gasped and then covered her mouth behind her small hands. She had only seen Diagon Alley once before, and it was always a beautiful sight.
Her mother looked at her, "Come along Cissy, Ollivanders is this way." They walked past Madam Malkin's, Eeylops Owl Emporium, and Florean Fortescue's ice cream shop. They came to an old black decrepit building which had a wand in the window.
She walked in nervously twirling a blonde strand of her hair in her fingers. Druella waited outside. "Hello?" Narcissa said, no one replied. "Hello!" She said louder this time. Where was the old man? Suddenly Ollivander came out from the shelves.
"Ah yes, a relative of the Black family. I think I know what we could try." The wispy white haired man already knew who she was, but how? He probably used magic, the show-off. Her face gave nothing away; she didn't acknowledge Ollivander she just waited expectantly.
The old man came back with three long boxes. "Yew and dragon heart string, pliable and unyielding." He handed her the wand, but as soon as it touched her fingers it felt wrong. It felt like her fingers had been jabbed at but she gave it a wave.
The podium in front of her developed three deep gashes, like a cat had scratched it. She put the wand back on the podium in silent denial. Ollivander sighed and handed her another, "Maple and unicorn hair, quite flexible! Good for charms."
This one didn't feel as uncomfortable as the last, but still didn't feel right in her hand. She gave this wand a twirl. The tape measure on the counter started to attack the walls, leaving dents in them. She put this one back as well. Ollivander was frowning and muttering to himself in a low voice, "Quite unusual wood, but it makes for the most controlled of people."
He glanced at Narcissa and then went to retrieve the wand. "Cherry Blossom and dragon heartstring! Do not be fooled by misconceptions, this wand wood is only for a select few," he said peering curiously at her. Just at that moment Narcissa's mother poked her head around the door and yelled, "Haven't you finished? I thought this would be easy!"
She made her way into the small shop to see what the delay was. "Ah how nice to see you Druella, Holly and dragon heartstring twelve inches!" Narcissa bit her lip and picked up the last wand. It felt like perfume was all around her, and water was flowing over her hand.
The wand itself was emitting pink sparks. Narcissa smiled because she had found her wand, cherry blossom and dragon heartstring, how odd? Her mother huffed, "Really a wand that comes from pink flowers and shoots pink sparks?"
Mr Ollivander frowned at Druella, "Do not be fooled, she has magnificent control over herself, I wouldn't be surprised if she managed to lie to he-who-must-not-be-named himself and get away with it!" With that Druella grasped Narcissa by the hand and they both strutted out of the shop andoff to Gringott's bank.
But one old man just couldn't stop thinking that in her own way, Narcissa Black would be a powerful witch
