AN: This was written for the Achieve that OUTSTANDING challenge on HPFC. The prompts were bronze (I'm not that great at titles) and next-gen. The story had to be under 200 words.


She stared down at the document, shaking hand poised. She knew what she was sacrificing, what her family would think of her. Her mother and father were dear to her, but she couldn't do it anymore. Once they knew who she really was, they would hate her.

She prided herself on her ability to use logic to debunk pureblood prejudices, and on her dueling skills. She chose the name Bronze. It symbolized the intelligence and danger of the human race. She neatly printed her birth name, and underneath that her chosen one. When she signed her chosen name, it looked odd. She hadn't used it much yet. She vowed to practice until it was perfect, because this name meant everything to her. It embodied her.

The witch at the desk took the papers and told her new documentation would be mailed to her soon. She thanked her and left quickly. A wizard strolled in and she kept her head down. She couldn't risk being recognized by him.

An older Muggle lady she had befriended stopped her halfway home. "Why, hello! Scorpius, isn't it?"

She shook her head with a grin. "It's Bronze. Bronze Malfoy."
