A Jilted Lament
We are those who have loved and lost
Angels shown their light upon us
But had we known the final cost…
-
My dear cousin was once my fuss
But 'twas Darcy she did accost
So her best friend I married thus.
-
Well mine was the fair Buttercup
Her beauty shown above her gloom
But then her pirate took her up!
-
I, a king, in my fullest bloom
Had my queen stolen by a pup
Oh my first knight shall have his doom!
-
A Vicomte stole my sweet student
I had too much trust in her love
And so my heart she surely rent
-
Ladies we thought were from above
Well they became our one lament
So to all men we warn thereof!
