A/N: The spontaneity of this idea scared and pleased me. _
Belgium blinked back tears as she held her gun in her hands. Valentine's Day on the battlefield was not the best experience she had had, but she had to deal with it. There was a war going on and her country was the battleground, so it could not be helped at all. However, at least the warfare had stopped for the night and she could breathe, if only for a second.
When she felt at ease, her thoughts would direct her to him. Always. Because he brought her peace and she knew she would be safe with him, even if it was just in her head.
'Soon, my dear,' she thought. 'Soon, we'll see each other again. Maybe not in the same trenches or battlefield, or maybe in the city, but I know we'll meet soon. I can feel it.'
She wanted to rest and isolate herself from the world, but she felt it was her duty to stand guard and protect her men. However, she was surprised when one of the soldiers said a package had arrived for her.
She thought it might have been a trap set up by Germany and Prussia, but she decided to check for everyone's sake. Nobody was supposed to know where she was. Except for England, of course. But it's not like he would send anything, right?
Nevertheless, she gave such a loving smile when she opened the package. No precaution was needed. Only joy. Because inside the package was an adorned bouquet of red poppies and a note that brought tears to her eyes.
-You are always in my thoughts. Be mine, love?
