"What have you done?"

Robin looked at Batman in confusion, trying to decipher what he was talking about. Then he looked at the corpse lying in the snow and remembered.

"What. Have. You. Done?!"

Robin's right eyebrow twitched. This was not happening to him right now…

He wanted to throw back a verbal barb, just to keep himself from becoming the victim. But the first thought that came to his head wasn't 'I didn't do it', but it would be helpful to make Batman think a little.

"You're an idiot," Robin scowled.

"What."

Robin fought back the urge to smirk. He could clear his name and educate his father in his errors. Life is good. He pointed to the corpse of the Dollmaker and continued,

"There is an enormous hole in the back of that creep, my birdarang has no blood on it or any indication that it was used recently, there are additional footsteps from where the Dollmaker was standing and they are much larger than mine. Unless you are suggesting I am capable of sorcery to indicate that I am the guilty party, I find myself disappointed and irritated that the World's Greatest Detective would jump to such a hasty conclusion based on my bloodline."

Batman stared. Robin had another thought and added,

"By the way, a man dressed as an owl was the one who did it. He was also encouraging me to not doubt my instincts and I have a feeling that we will be seeing him again soon."

"…"

"Tell me you are not thinking of a response to absolve yourself from responsibility. Grayson mentioned that this might be a problem and hoped that I will be able to 'nip it in the bud before it's too late', or something like that."

"Someone else was here?" Batman finally asked.

"Yes," Robin huffed, "I wanted to do the deed, but chose not to. That was when the real assassin appeared and killed the Dollmaker, and ripped out his heart from behind with razor-sharp claws like it was soft butter."

"…"

"Mother was right, you know. Your 'No Killing' rule has major flaws if this kind of thing keeps happening."

"…"

"Batman, answer me!"

"I'm sorry," Batman turned around and walked through the snow. "I think I need to lie down."

"Never knew you could get queasy this easily," Robin sneered.

"I don't, I just think something must be wrong with me if I'm jumping to quick conclusions without acting like the World's Greatest Detective."
