This story is about Arwen, daughter of Aragorn. She is the last heir of Isildur. It's basically Aragorn's life if he was female. I've taken things from the book and the movies to make this fic.

FYI: The elf Arwen does not exist in this tale, and it is absolutely NON-Slash.

(Yes, that means there are NO Arwen/Eowyn pairings.)

Heiress of Gondor

This is the tale of Arwen, Isildur's heir and the daughter of the prophecy. It is her account, for I am she. This is my tale.

I best begin at a time before I was born. The time of Isildur, High King of Gondor. My ancestor.

It was Isildur who cut the One Ring from Sauron's hand with the broken sword, Narsil. It was he who should have cast the Ring into the fires of Mount Doom. Yet, he did not. He took it for his own.

There were some who spoke against this. Elrond, elf lord of Rivendell, forebode it

"The Ring is evil entirely," he said. "The essence of the Dark Lord rests within it."

The elven queen, Galadriel, in her great wisdom, gave Isildur a stern warning.

"Take heed, Isildur," she said, "For I have foreseen a greater evil that shall come to pass if you should keep it."

At this, Isildur grew wrathful. For he would not be talked down to by a woman, be she elf or mortal.

"Counsel me not, elf queen. For it is my choice to take the Ring. Besides, I do not doubt that you have your own yearnings for this great power."

Despairingly, the elves took leave of the King of Gondor. Yet Galadriel left him with words that would be echoed for years to come.

"Know this, proud king," she said, "I have foreseen a time when your bloodline all but fails. If the Enemy should rise again, there shall be no sons of your blood to stand against him."

She gazed deep into the arrogant king, asserting that he understood her warning.

"But a daughter," she continued, "a daughter of your line shall rise up from the darkness and challenge the Dark lord. This woman shall wield the blade of Kings."

Isildur scoffed at this and took little heed. But Galadriel was not daunted.

"This prophecy shall one day come to fulfillment. It is the will of Iluvatar, Himself."
