Of Sky and Flame
The Scarlet flame.
I'm the Scarlet Flame,
And he's the Azure Sky.
He's a logical thinking person,
While I'm impulsive.
He is ruled by reason,
While I'm ruled by instinct.
He's domestic,
While I'm wild.
I remain the same as ever,
While he changes as he please.
My touch burns and turns the thing it touches to ashes,
While his touch envelope and caress the thing it touches.
Those who dare to touch me will be incinerated by my fiery nature,
And those who dare to touch you will forevermore search to hold you while you slip away from their fingers.
I'm so much of a flame that my very passion smoldered me,
While you're so much of a sky that you hide a mask,
Each to hide the real you,
Each to show everyone and everything,
That you're alright,
That you don't need anything,
That you're ready to lose everything if they ask you,
Yes you who hide behind the mask and conveniently call it a "condition",
What do you really want,
What do you truly need,
What do you try to protect,
What do you see in me.
War has ravaged us both,
Here we seek solace in our own despair,
We fought for our own ideals,
Wither together or against each other,
We fought because it's fair,
It's all fair in love and war,
Even if I have to watch in a cage for the rest of my life,
I will watch as long as my eyes see's your body than I'm continent,
Continent with being your keeper,
For I will love you for the both of us,
For I'm the one who will keep you safe again,
Even if it's from outside your cage.
I'm nothing but a simple flame that mesmerized many by my pure simplicity,
But I was taken already charmed by the sky,
The sky that hides itself,
The sky that lovingly cared for those who are dear to him,
The sky that enveloped my heart the day that he took me in as a personal protector,
The sky that has changed over the shifting current,
Yet the sky didn't change,
The sky didn't turn against the flame,
The sky is ever compassionate,
The sky is ever graceful in its conquest to change the sins of old,
The sky that has been scrutinized for its conquest cares not but to redeem the lost's sacrifice as it fell from heaven and began to be engulfed by the sins of old.
As I watched your body slide to the bottom of the pedestal,
I begin to regret ever facing you in war,
I regretted never believing in you nor myself as your guardian,
As I saw your body their bloodied by your own blood I realized how much you loved this world,
How much you loved us,
How much you wanted to change our fate from the sin's that we created and those before us created.
O' sky O' sky I love you with all my heart,
I love you with all that I'm,
I only regretted that I couldn't hold you when I could,
I had oh so many chances to go to you,
To fill my heart's desire,
But I couldn't,
I was too wrapped up in the flow of things that I didn't see what you planned to do,
O' sky O' sky forgive this foolish flame for it was foolish to doubt its heart and the trust that you showed,
For it's foolish to doubt the one it loves and admire,
For its foolish to throw it's only saving grace,
So please O' benevolent sky forgive this foolish flame for it no longer has the will to look for anything else.
