Just Close Your Eyes
A/N: I AM ON A ROLL TODAY! Someone mark this down as the day RAMONKS33 IS ON A FREAKING ROLL! HECK YEAH! I think I might play some animal crossing after this, or maybe take over the world, but I wanted to write another James and Lily fic cause I haven't been writing much Harry Potter, but ENJOY! Takes place a few months before the Potters were killed
The winds blew harshly outside, trying to force itself in the Potter's tiny cottage. The horrid wind chimes Petunia sent Lily were clanging as loud as physically possibly, but Lily herself didn't hear it.
She was huddled in front of her fireplace, eyes wide and knees to her chest. She was being very gentle, as she was still holding her son. Harry. Her beautiful baby.
She wiped a tear away, as she looked down at the baby in her arms. He was wrapped in a blue blanket, and his magnificent eyes were shut tight, as he slept on without knowing the threat was to be coming.
Lily Potter was terrified. Absolutely terrified. Her and James had just received news from Dumbledore, that Voldemort wanted them dead. Her, her son and his father. She held Harry closer, as she tried to swallow her fear. She couldn't break down. Not now.
But it was impossible. Voldemort was at the height of his power, ready to slaughter and kill whoever he had to. He had already killed so many of her friends…Marlene…Amelia, and the ridiculous but brave brothers Gideon and Fabian Prewett. Molly was so upset.
She held Harry close as she tried to hum a lullaby, trying to lure herself into relaxation. It was for her sake, not for her son. She took a shaky breath, as a tear dropped from her eye, and onto the blanket. The smudge turned the blanket dark, and she almost broke down. Until a pair of gentle hands gently took Harry from her grasp. She turned to see her husband, James Potter, looking down at her with concern. He held Harry in one hand, and held the other out to her. She slowly but surely stood, and took his hand. James could do nothing more as Lily cried into his chest, shaking terribly in fear and worry.
Not that James wasn't worried. He was terrified as well, but more out of anger. Voldemort would never get his hands on his wife and son. He'd die before he let that happen. He held them both close, and caressed Lily's hair gently, brushing it back. He placed Harry in his crib with one hand, with much difficulty, and soon wrapped both arms around Lily, as she sobbed. He hated seeing her cry. She was his. He would do anything to make her stop. He held her tight, and whispered soothing things into her ear, as she cried. Soon, the tears subsided and they were holding each other, their hearts beating as one. Silence reigned the cottage, but James and Lily knew, they didn't have to be so brave. They had each other, and that was all they needed.
James gently led Lily to the bedroom and laid down, holding her in his arms. Lily held him tight, as she looked at him. Her green eyes were tinged with red as she asked "James…what if-"
"Shh…" he murmured, brushing her hair behind her ears. He placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, full of compassion and sweetness.
"But…James, what if Dumbledore was right?" she stuttered, looking at him.
"What if V-Voldemort did…come here and kill…you t-t-tw-". She couldn't finish her sentence and broke down into fresh sobs.
"Lily. My sweet, sweet Lily" he whispered into her ear. He held her close as he continued to try and comfort his wife "I'll never let him. He's not going to lay a single finger on you two. I love you so much, Lils. I will never…ever….let you go"
He looked at her, the hazel into the green, as she leaned forward and kissed him softly, so sweetly and full of love. And as they closed their eyes, they felt their souls thinking as one, as Voldemort could never feel the love they felt that night, the love of the Potters. Of James and Lily, who would be with each other for eternity.
